Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, sour cream


Instructions:

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic to the pot and sauté for 2-3 minutes, until the onion is translucent.
  3. Add the kidney beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce to the pot, along with the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir everything together.
  4. Bring the chili to a simmer and let it cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors have melded together and the chili has thickened.
  5. Serve the chili hot, with optional toppings like shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, and sour cream.
